Gary Pisoni’s “miracle well” changed his life forever and allowed him to expand his vineyard. Never losing faith, he spent years searching for water in the rocky soil of the Santa Lucia Highlands.
The 2016 Vintage at Pisoni Estate was a remarkable year. Mother Nature brought challenges of extended drought to California and the Pisoni family responded by modifying farming and winemaking practices to craft an exceptional wine.
Years like 2015, fraught with climatic hardships including a poor set, shatter and up to 70% lower fruit yields, causes one to wonder why we continue forward with what seems like a crazy venture. Demanding as it is to cultivate and create, this illustrious varietal, drink of nobility since the days of the Roman Empire, provides us with as many satisfactions as trials—not only for its pure hue and elegant finish, but because it tells the story of the fog-shrouded, windy hillsides that make it possible.
