The 2023 Chardonnay Pisoni Estate was aged in about 60% new oak. It prances out with showy notes of white peaches, green guava, and ripe grapefruit, leading to hints of lime blossoms, chalk dust, and candied ginger with a hint of cedar. The medium to full-bodied palate has great tension and a satiny texture to frame the tightly wound tropical and citrus fruit layers, finishing long and minerally.

The 2023 Pinot Noir Pisoni Estate comes from some of Pisoni Vineyard’s oldest vines, located at 1400 feet of elevation and planted on granite-based soils. Medium ruby-purple colored, it needs a little swirling to unlock evocative scents of ripe raspberries, kirsch, and mulberries, followed by hints of anise, wild thyme, and underbrush, plus a touch of iris bulbs. The medium to full-bodied palate is taut with muscular black and red berry layers, supported by firm, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and perfumed. Gorgeous!

The 2023 Chardonnay Estate Cuvee races out with eager-to-please notes of lemon tart, applesauce, and ripe peaches, plus nuances of baking bread and toasted almonds. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers a refreshing line and satiny texture to support the orchard fruit and savory layers, finishing with a lively lift.

The 2023 Chardonnay Soberanes Vineyard soars from the glass with notes of juicy pineapple, white peaches, and green mango, giving way to hints of almond croissant and fresh ginger. The medium to full-bodied palate is wonderfully pure and racy with a silkiness to the texture and a savory finish.

Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2023 Pinot Noir Estate Cuvée bursts with bold notes of cranberry sauce and pomegranate, giving way to wafts of roses, cinnamon, and Sichuan pepper. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers intense, vibrant red berry flavors with a lively backbone and fine-grained tannins, finishing on a lingering peppery note.

The 2023 Pinot Noir Soberanes Vineyard is 100% Pisoni clone. Medium to deep ruby-purple colored, it shoots out with gregarious notes of black cherries and fresh blackberries, followed by hints of black pepper, violets, and garrigue with a waft of tree moss. The medium to full-bodied palate is dense with tight-knit layers with a refreshing line and grainy tannins to give impressive support, finishing long and fragrant.

Medium to deep ruby-purple colored, the 2023 Pinot Noir Garys’ Vineyard waltzes out with floral notes of rose oil and lavender, opening out to a core of fresh black plums and blackberry pie, plus hints of licorice and black pepper. The medium to full-bodied palate has a firm frame of grainy tannins and amazing tension, delivering a very long blackberry and licorice-laced finish.

The 2023 Syrah Soberanes Vineyard is 100% Syrah, all Alban clones, fermented using 100% whole cluster. Deep garnet-purple colored, it comes bounding out with ready-to-go notes of blackcherries, Provence herbs, cracked black pepper, and fresh black plums with wafts of lavender and tar. The medium to full-bodied palate has a seriously racy backbone with lovely ripe, rounded tannins and intense black fruit layers, finishing long and peppery.

The 2023 Syrah Susan’s Hill is 100% Syrah from the highest ridge of Pisoni Vineyard. Deep garnet-purple colored, it slowly unfurls to reveal notes of fresh blackberries and black raspberries, plus suggestions of bacon fat, garrigue, and black pepper with a hint of charcoal. The medium to full-bodied palate is dense with black fruit and peppery layers, supported by firm, chewy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and earthy/savory.
